Between 29 May and 23 July Tesco Health Insurance will cover new customers' children* absolutely free for the first year. The offer applies to all families irrespective of how they are made up i.e. single parent, joint parent or legal guardian.

• No claims discount- Tesco Health Insurance is there for peace of mind, but if customers don't make a claim they are rewarded with a no claims discount. The maximum no claims discount after four years claim-free is 55%. At this point customers can purchase an NCD protector. Otherwise, if a customer does claim they will go back three steps on the eight point NCD scale.
• The market- In 2006, there were 3.6 million policies (covering 6.4 million people) in the UK health insurance market. The split of policies is approximately two to one company-purchased/consumer-purchased.
